MAG: JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE TAKE BACK THE NIGHT VIDEO

Now look at Justin Timberlake being all smooth in his new video, I think it's a great pop music video.

BLOG: HALF MOON RUN IN SESSION AT MAIDA VALE

A real talented band from Canada, Half Moon Run, have four live tracks recorded in session at Maida Vale. Performing for BBC Radio 1 last week, they're a band to keep an eye on because I like their music a lot. I've listened to their recent debut album "Dark Eyes" a couple times and it's very good. There's a familiar comfort in their warm sound of folk-rock guitars but combined with chilling vocal harmonies and a drum/percussion score that keeps you rooted and attentive, it's an original vibe that is nothing short of cool. "Call Me In The Afternoon" is their lead single off their album and a right tune at that. They play Shepherds Bush in London come November and I'm extremely tempted to see their outfit live – this clip from Maida Vale doing wonders for encouragement. Check them out and watch out for their growing presence in the coming year. I like; and Huw Stephens approves.

MAG: MIRROR CITY TIMELAPSE BY MICHAEL SHAINBLUM

You should have seen my face as I watched this for the first time. Whilst my mind cannot fathom the logistics of this, its brilliance is undeniable. It's a must-watch by photographer Michael Shainblum, who has here compiled time lapse sequences from various cities into an awe-inspiring piece of quasi-kaleidoscopic motion design, that he has aptly called "Mirror City". I think it's a work of magic, the ultimate fruit of creativity. And, for the record, what a tune by Bassnectar too.

DIARY: NIKEiD x LIBERTY ROSHE RUN PURCHASE

I made this purchase weeks ago, immediately after I heard that Liberty made their pepper print fabric an option for NikeiD customisation. Roshes were the ones I'd had my eye on and how pleased I am to possess this crazy pair today. With London's (ridiculously) good weather boding well for them, I've worn these bad boys almost every day, thrilled with its comfort and thrilled with its Liberty. With my Victate partner also getting his own personalised pair, we decided to have Victate embroidered at the heel – very cool indeed.

MAG: KICK-ASS 2 EXTENDED TRAILER

Yes. This. The new four-and-a-half-minute trailer for Kick-Ass 2. The first one surprised and impressed me with its savage humour and I'm so keen to see more of it. And indeed to see more of Chloë Grace Moretz, who I admire greatly as an actress both on and off the screen. This trailer for sure maintains and increases my anticipation for the film, it looks hilarious.

MAG: MØ MAIDEN LIVE SESSION FOR P3

In an exclusive session for Norwegian music website P3 (or so I gather from their homepage), upcoming Danish starlet MØ performed a live version of one my favourite tracks "Maiden". With a guitar riff that I just cannot get enough of, this youthful, energetic, talented girl fucking kills it in what seems a bizarre setting in front of trotting horses. Oh it's great.

MAG: NIKE AIR MAX 1 WT

From: Cult Edge

A new release for the Air Max 1 and it's one that I like very much. White suede upper with black highlights including the sole. Understated but bold? There's definitely something here that's tugging at me and provides an option I don't already own.

BLOG: RSA STUDENT DESIGN AWARDS FINAL SHORTLIST

I've been working on a project (on and off) over the past few months, to which I may have hinted at in some posts, and I'm delighted that my team's entry was commended as the runner-up for this year's RSA Student Design Awards. What started off as a promising college project has now gone under a bit of scrutiny from several influential eyes and it's something we'd love to progress and develop further. In fact, just last week we were invited to Billings Jackon's London studio where we were fortunate to have spent invaluable time with the head product designer and business director there, which was one of the most enjoyable and inspiring visits I've attended.

So, good times for us. Wonderful to have been recognised on such scale.

BLOG: JAY Z INTERVIEW WITH ZANE LOWE

For BBC Radio 1, Mr Zane Lowe, who knows just so much about the world of music, met JAY Z in the run-up to the release of "Magna Carta Holy Grail" and in a series of 4 parts (totalling almost an hour's run time) they discuss a range of topics that is genuinely so so interesting to hear. It's a must watch for any and all music fans.

To see two human beings so engaged and so passionate for what they do sharing a conversation is absolutely fascinating. It really is a compelling interview, a sort of magic that occurs when a deep connection is found and when two angles can meet so on point, it's something I can't help but feel overwhelming admiration and awe for. The respect they hold for each other, the way they feel each other's words and the emotions they share together – I mean that's cool.

MAG: POSH CRAFT x REALIZE LUNA CONCRETE IPHONE SKIN

From: Designboom

Featured all over the place on the internet this week is this ridiculously cool skin for the iPhone 5. Made entirely out of concrete, Korean creative collective Posh Craft and design studio REAL!ZE worked together on this thin, flexible, protective casing. Taking forth their proud value for experimentation, "Luna" appears to have found true harmony in its design, beautifully complementary for the iPhone back. With superficial imperfections in texture found on each individual product, it brings a combined sense of nature and modernism that sounds very attractive to me. And above all, it must surely feel wonderful to hold.

MAG: THE WEEKND BELONG TO THE WORLD

New track from The Weeknd has he gears up to the release of his second album after the superb "Trilogy". The drop at the climax of this track is so enticing and grand, a strangely alluring sense of power that I like a lot, especially accompanied by fittingly powerful scenes in this video. I'm seeing Abel Tesfaye for the third time later this year on the huge stage of The O2. Supporting him will be the amazing Banks, who I've been following for a couple months now. I think her sensual sound is spreading well and I really look forward to seeing her perform too.

DIARY: DESPICABLE ME 2

From: Despicable Me

We went to see Despicable Me 2 I think two weekends ago. I thought the first movie was one of the best animation pictures ever, particularly enjoying the dark, blunt, often crude sense of humour that it opted for. That combined with a strong story, great soundtrack and such on point voiceovers, it's a brilliant movie that I've watched over a dozen times. Which is why of course I'd been so eager to see the sequel. I'm not going to give anything away that you wouldn't want me to, don't worry, but I just wanted to state how proud I am of how we – a group of six 20+ year olds – laughed harder than everyone else in that cinema. Genuine, vocal and constant would best describe our laughter.

MAG: NIGHT STROLL BY TAO TAJIMA

Animating the nighttime streets of Tokyo, a guy called Tao Tajima has created this stunning light show video. Playing with bold geometric shapes, it's a cool piece of moving image, is what it is!

MAG: COLOUR THE ATLAS PAPER WINGS

New from Swindon-based band, Colour The Atlas, is "Paper Wings" – the lead single off their upcoming EP. I first heard these guys on radio or something when their self-titled EP was released, a record that contained four gorgeous tracks that produce this sensual nostalgic feeling that I can't quite put my finger on. Perhaps it's Jess Hall's luscious vocals that tap into my soft spot for female singers. Whatever it is though, there's certainly something very pure and humble about their sound that's attractive to me and I hope they go onto have their music heard by greater audiences. The new EP "Building Skyscrapers" is out August 5 and it should be a good one.

MAG: ELLIE GOULDING NEW SINGLE BURN

Ellie Goulding hasn't kept us waiting long since her superb sophomore album, with plenty of live shows and a couple of tracks dropped here and there. The latest of which is this newly announced single "Burn" which goes on sale August 18. Also check out her new track "You My Everything" debuted on a Skins episode this week and also her beautiful acoustic version of her collab with Calvin Harris "I Need Your Love". This girl is so perfect.
